Anyone here know a trick to installing the engine? When I took it out months and months ago, it was a pain. Valve covers are installed and left side covers are installed. Anyone know a trick for an easier install i.e. from the right with motor turned sideways????

LOL

I use a light duty transmission jack and a couple of tie downs to strap the motor to the base tight. They have infinite adjustment for twisting and angling the motor just right, it slides right in. I have never had to force, wack or pry it in when doing it this way. I also remove the U-joint to20150625_203205.jpg 20150625_203136.jpg 20150624_221122.jpg 20150625_203205.jpg 20150625_203136.jpg 20150624_221122.jpg 20150625_203205.jpg 20150625_203136.jpg 20150624_221122.jpg get it out of the way.

Remove the middle gear assembly (3 bolts in from the rear, 2 bolts in the case to loosen up a little, then a tug or two.). Will make the job far far easier.

Agree with both folks above.
I don't have a trans jack. I just used a regular old floor jack. I put a block of wood between the jack and oil pan. This allow me to spin and tilt a bit.
Remove the output shaft assembly as Sean noted.
I was able to pop it in by myself without too much trouble.

I've had my engine out 2-3 times each time using the same method as Mike explained above. Balancing it on a short piece of wood allows you to turn/ tilt/ wiggle the engine into place.
