That shore ain't the way it happened for me when a 15yo student driver turned left in front of my first 85, that's for sure.
 
Sometimes I think that carrying a little extra speed might be your friend as in this case. I lost a good mate of mine back in 1978 when his Honda 500 four collided with a small van turning across his right of way in a very low speed collision. The bike compressed the van gas tank and fuel was evacuated out of the filler and doused the rider. Sparks from the ignition ? (No clue) lit my buddy up and he died later of severe burns. An extra few mph might have thrown him clear but I guess we'll never know.
