Hi to all and thanks for the warm welcome. My name is Paul (previously known as kiwi Paul on the old starvmax site)

I have 09 and 98 Vmax's and still in love with them. My 98 has 40,000 miles on it (had 7,000 miles when i got it) and the 09 was new and it's got almost 80,000 miles now. Totally stock and no problems except the neutral light that doesn't always work as it should.

I am in CA in the Bay Area (Santa clara county) if there's any other vmaxers in the area that are interested in the occasional ride in the hills.

Looking forward to reading some threads and sharing some stories.

Paul

Thanks for the welcome folks.
VMAXer you are correct. The 09 is my default ride although i did swap the rear wheel for the diversion 17" a while back and it made it a lot more user friendly.
I have kept it for if i have someone visiting and we want to take a ride somewhere.
I usually give them the 09 to ride. I figure it's a safer bike for them for cornering / braking etc and they keep up better. The gen 1 is no slouch and is still a lot of fun to ride.

Hi Gorki. Good to hear from you. Seems to be very few vmaxxers in Nth California so it's good to know I'm not alone. I'd be keen to hear how you get on with the failing gear select indicator.
I get all of them every now and then but usually no neutral light. 1st and 5th are the most consistent with neutral light occasionally. I chose not to look for a fix cos pulling in the clutch makes it start every time but would be nice to have it working properly.
I don't make it over your way often but will definately let you know if I do. And please let me know if you're over this way. I'm in Mtn View.
Good luck with the missing # 1 - Paul
