I would first like to say thank you for all the knowledge and help but said to say just sold my vmax. I have a perfect black fake gas tank /air box cover for $125 dollars plus shipping or if in the area pick up. Ray 412 609 9125...again thanks for all your support.

Did they ever make a black Gen 1 Vmax? I don't recall if they did. I know they made dark gray, gray with black stripes but I don't recall ever seeing a completely black one.

In 85, I had the choice of black with very fine blue metallic or the rare purple. That was at my dealership in Dayton Ohio.

The triumph has been a lot of fun, but the dang thing eats stators. I enjoy bikes with character that you don't see every day, the vmax has been on my list since I first saw one when I was a kid!
