seems the po found a cleaver solution to those pesky yamaha wiring connectors.

not yet. I got the shifter segment swapped out ,replaced the shift shaft seal clutch pushrod seal. moved onto the stator cover and found this train wreck. It looks like someone added about 6" of wiring where the plug should be.

The kid was here on leave working on his jeep and left a billion dollars worth of weatherpak connectors here...looks like one just went missing.

crimp fix next.
 
Some people should be kept away from wires.

Remember solder is to make electrical contact not a mechanical joint.

Best way to join wires is to splay the ends, push the two ends together so the strands intertwine and twist. Then apply solder and cover with heat shrink tubing.

If the strands aren't shiny, use wet n dry over them to remove oxide.

Alternatively use a butt join connector, I don't like them as they are more bulky.
