Hi,

My current muffler is a 20" over racing, I will need to replace the carbon sleeve which already cracked on the mounting point, maybe because it's too heavy.
So before replacing the sleeve, I wondered if I should let it that long or not.

I wanted to understand what is the impact of reducing the size of the muffler.
I was thinking going for 14" size, still need to check that.

Should I expect some changes?
What are the benefits ?
Will i need to adjust the carbs ?
Is it safe to do it ? No risk to waste the muffler ?

No problem at all.
Just take a hand metal saw and simply cut it.
Nothing will change besides the lenght and loudness.

Thats what I've done with mine Two Bros Carbon Mufflers while back.

It's a crystal clear answer :)

What kind of header did you use with the 2bro cans ?
Does it mean potentially any muffler can be used as soon it will fit the header ?

Those where the stock headers, TB's mufflers are/were slipons.

Yes, preatty any muffler can be used at least it will fit the header. Its a matter of fabricating the right reduction.
But if you want to keep the good performance the ID of the muffler is important.
ID should be at least that big as the outlet from heder is.

Headres are what changing the power and performance at least we are talking about the "absorbtion muffler".

thanks for making it so clear :)
That's exactly what I thought, but now it's confirmed ;)

So I guess those short racing muffler you can find on sport bike could fit.

Just imagine this supertrapp instead of the big one :)

hehe yep I might have seen it there :)
I had an SV650S with carbs before the v-max, I loved it.

I cannot imagine those small muffler on the max, might sounds very nice.

Yeah I can't wait to get my 1000 out this year. I miss it. I haven't ridden it in 18 months. I didn't even take it out of storage last year. I need to get new fuel in her.
