Haven't had the bike long and this come with it on the handlebars and a round plastic disc that held something, Sat Nav or something like that, any ideas?

Further searching indicates it is used as sensor connector on BMW cars.

E. G. Temperature Sensor, air bag occupancy etc.

Stick the above number into ebay.

Thanks for the time you put into this, really appreciate it, but why would it be on the handlebar of a bike? Well done for finding the info though, I drew a blank.
 
Just had a read up, could have been used for anything from phone charging to sat nav to name but a few. I will trace this back and disconnect it. Thanks again

It's seems to be a BMW part, so not fitted by Yamaha, hence it is reasonable to assume that one of the previous owners installed it.

What it is for is anyone's guess but that can be narrowed down by following the wires.

It's probably ignition switched 12v power for something like a satnav.
