Polycarbonate is unbreakable. I used to make windscreens and tried to break piece with a hammer. Not possible.

does repeated heating and cooling cycles change its properties

Be careful with some cleaning solutions though. I had a cover that started to haze after applying something so eventually had to get it replaced. Check which chemicals react with polycarb.

There was a video on youtube showing a bike with "glass" cover, which was not clear anymore. I tried to install plastic "glass" on brake master cylinder, it was not clear after about a week.
"Glass" guys, how long is your cover on? Is it still clear?

Anyone who modified the clutch cover still have the original plastic insert? Mine has a nasty crack. After Dannymax gets my carbs done, Im going to strip and repaint the engine. This would be a good time to replace the part, if anyone has one they'd be willing to part with..
