My owners manual says that a "special" tool in the toolkit is used to adjust the rear shock. My "special tool" is no where to be seen. Can it be raised by using a screwdriver in one of the holes?

You might be able to get away with that without messing anything up (kick the chrom/metal or marr it up). However, the special tool is just a spanner wrench and you coul prollie go to about any dealer and pick one up cheap. Or check e-bay, they shouldn't be difficult to track down.

If you have a fair ammount of strength, use both hands and adjust it that way. I was able to move it one setting (with the bike weight on the suspension :bang head: ) and another setting once the bike was on the center stand. Any more and I'll definitly need the damn tool.

I've done them using a triple folded rag to protect the paint and a pair of channellocks but the tool is really the way to go...
