Scooter Trouble

So long story short, we are trying to sell a 2006 Tank 150cc scooter on CL.

The problem is that after sitting for a year it has developed a god-awful noise when ridden.

At any speed above ~5mph it gets this nasty metal on metal screech. I can rev it all I want, but the noise doesn't start until the back tire is moving.

Any idea what it could be? I'm afraid it's something (expensive) with the CVT, but again the noise only developed after sitting in a heated garage for about a year and I don't know what could fail simply from lack of use.

That's the first thing we checked but after watching a couple YouTube vids of people with the same issue I'm thinking its a belt that needs replacing.

A dry belt would squalk and carry on too, hope it's a simple fix!..............Tom.
