Size of rear axle nut?

While the manual says to torque it to 110 many find that this is too tight causing the diff to run hot. I have heard some run it at 50 ft/lbs without any issues.
 
Thanks ,Rollie & Redbone for clearing this issue up, I noticed on my first rear tire change 25 years ago while reinstalling the back wheel that this seemed way too tight and backed off on the tightening specs and saw no ill effects.
 
I found that my 1 1/16" prop wrench fit it well also.... it was super tight when I removed it, and my diff would be nearly too hot to touch after a while on the highway, especially if it was at extra-legal speeds.

I only did about 50 ft/lbs this time and the diff is much cooler now and no other ill effects.
