...outside of mounting issues,,,,the lil 1/2 dollar one that came w/ my 94 is kinda feeble...

The factors you would need to consider are:

• Is it cable operated?
• Will the inner of the Max's cable fit into the alternative head and is the thread for the outer the same?
• Does the speedo head would have to have the same turns per m.p.h. ratio as the Max's?

or

• Can the speedo's drive be fitted to the Max wheel?

and if the answer is yes

• Is it from a bike with an 18" wheel?

My guess would be that the 'guts' within a speedo are pretty generic so that they can be made as cheap as possible; it is only the exterior that changes.

On that basis then, given the caveats above, it should work....how accurate it is could be another matter.

Unless someone else has already done such a mod then it is going to be a matter of trial and error.

Here's the backside of the one that came on mine. Has anyone seen something that looks like it may bolt onto the front to cover the speedometer, using the two bolts a lil lower on each side?
