Hey Guys, As some of you know a good friend of mine and former member here has been stricken down with a brain tumor and is having a tough go at it.

I have a CRAP ton of bike and car magazines and am hoping to find some more from all of you great people to send to him.

See this thread for more info on him.

http://www.vmaxforum.net/showthread.php?t=9846

My goal is to get as many magazines together as possible and then send him one large care package. His spirits are low and bikes are his passion.

ANY thing you can offer up is much appreciated. Mags or anything someone would want to do in a hospital. This isn't a scam or a scheme.

Please no porn mags... Scantily clad woman OK! :eusa_dance:

You can send them to:

S.J.Smith Co. Inc
3707 W. River Dr.
Davenport IA 52802
C/O Christopher Smith

This is a commercial site which make it cheaper to UPS to.

Thank you SO much for your help. Thank you Jayhawk for this idea...

Every little bit helps.

Chris

Re: Magazines for Nathan (4WARND)

Chris,

Is Nathan a VMOA member? I will talk to Kelvin and see if we can put together a care package of VBoost magazines to send to him. Let me know you think he would like this.

Pass on my best wishes please.

Re: Magazines for Nathan (4WARND)

He was a member and a chapter leader. He's got a crap ton of V-Boost mags because of that. He's no longer a Vmax rider as he sold it to get the money to move knowing that he'd by a K1200R when he got there, which he did...

He had two vmax's and it killed him to sell the last one but for the roads down there he wanted a sportier bike.

I believe he's probably still a member but it may have expired. It's only been a few months since he sold the bike... He sold it to a member here...

Danny and others... I would send any well wishes to [email protected]. His wife will check the email and pass them on. Please keep everything positive.

Thanks Chris....just a couple words of encouragement, more to let him know he's not alone than anything else. I'll let him know the addy. came from you...ok?

Re: Magazines for Nathan (4WARND)

what about a few bucks for those of us who don't have mags lying around and we could get him a couple different subs?

Re: Magazines for Nathan (4WARND)

Yeah that's fine Danny...

Subs? I don't think he needs any speakers... lol

Somehow Magazines and Sticky just doesn't seem right - lol. Let me know if there is anything in particular I can provide. [email protected]

Re: Magazines for Nathan (4WARND)

Hey Chris. I feel for you friend Nathan. My sister has been battling cancer since July and is in the middle of her first round of chemo treats. I'd be more than glad to help. I think I have 3 years worth of Motorcyclist, Cyle World, Motorcycle Consumer New and few other motorcycle title thrown in from 2004-2007 I have been collecting. I can package them and send it over to him directly since there are so many of them if you want. If it will bring him enjoyment then they are worth more to him than me, actually my wife might just pay him to take them off my hands. Let me know.

Re: Magazines for Nathan (4WARND)

Hey Michael, Actually if you want grab some of the ones you don't care to have and send them on over to me. I want to make this a central spot and am not big on posting other addresses. Our company addy is all over the web.

Thanks SO much for you kindness and I wish your sister the best. This really sucks as I am sure you are aware of.

Not a problem, I'll try and get it out to you with UPS tomorrow. They pick up at my office.

Re: Magazines for Nathan (4WARND)

I got 6 pint of Ice-Cream sent to him... He's going to be SO happy!

If there's one thing that makes him happy it's ice cream.

Thank you all.

Re: Magazines for Nathan (4WARND)

Chris, is there anything else we can provide besides magazines he may want. I spent about 2 month in the hospital 5 yrs ago with a brain tumor and I can tell you anything he can get his hands on that will keep his spirits up will help him immensly in recovery and outlook. Let me know if there is anything I can do, food, dvd's, sudoku or word search type books, reading books, anything, my magazine selection is kinda thin though thanks to the wife :bang head:

Re: Magazines for Nathan (4WARND)

If there's something any of you want to send him, send it to me. As long as it doesn't spoil and is easily shipped I am game. We get a hell of a price on shipping here so what every you come up with I am game for. Richard, You've been there and done this. An email to his wife (Renee) at [email protected] may help. Just be positive and tell her about your experience. Telling her that you're a Vmax owner would help too. lol I told her that you guys were aware of his issue.

Thanks a TON!

Chris

i don't have much to spend but if ur fronting $$ for the ice cream n wahtnot i'll contribute a few bucks. let me know how to get it to you.

I'm not really wanting to do money so much... So much of it gets lost through paypal fee's and what not but I DO appreciate the offer to help out.

I will send her an email tonight when I have more time to sit down and write it out.

That's a good idea! Food is the best thing right now for him... lol Anyone ever in a hospital knows what it's like to eat there... lol

Not sure about the "adorable" part of it though... He's a mans man if you get me... lol It is cute though...

Really anything that any of you can offer will be more appreciated than you can imagine.

A little glimpse into their current financials...

#1 new home they are leasing has a high payment. 1200 or so per month is a guess.

#2 insurance premiums are 700 bucks per month

#3 deductible is 2500 bucks.

#4 last but by NO means least... They have 3 children.

Now that is a HELL of a lot less than the several hundred thousand they would have paid for the brain surgery but it still hurts...

She started her new job on the 28th of September and worked 41 hours total before this happened. She had 90 days before she could get on their insurance. This company she worked for set her up with insurance the day after his accident. Yes the premiums are high but I don't think they really can complain nor do they...
