My favorite drag-racing article was when Jeff Carr, I think it was, tried to drag-race a heavily-modded, nitro-fueled Sportster and ended racing the riderless bike through the traps, on his back. The owner's comment was something like, "10.20 seconds, not-bad for a man w/o a bike!"
