honda plant where i live just called me to do testing and screening crap to work on the assembly line.

$15.05/hr starting out.

my eyes went big lol.

im making 8.50/hr now at the casino so this is a huge upgrade. im setting up retirement stuff and payin off my gen 2 and buying a house.. WELL... within my means.

no credit cards for me (but i dont have kids to pay for yet so that could change)

everything took a turn for the worse for me when i bought my gen 2, and got laid off the very next day. my lifes basically been in hell mode ever since. every time i get paid someone else wants money. ive been commuting on my vstrom (50 miles one way) and its saved me a crap load on gas haha.

i thought i was getting a break when i sold my gen 1, but my friend still owes me some money on it, just found out he got laid off and cant pay me back.


oh i also went back to my old college and found out a class i thought i failed... i actually passed!!! so im 2 classes away from having my certificate in pc support and administration, so im taking a summer class. woot woot

i actually thought long and hard about selling my gen 2 and wiping my hands of it., but then what?? id have no vmax and be even more depressed. id have no money (owe too much on it) and no max.

besides id just go buy another one anyway! lol

Hang in there, Matt! Economy sucks ass right now and jobs are really hard to find(unless you live in China). Sounds like things are starting to look up for you.

ya i was getting scared last time, got laid off in october didnt get a job until feb lol.

i bet i sent 50-60 apps/resumes out and only 4 have gotten ahold of me.

one was a warehouse unloading truck job for 8.50/hr 2 hours away from home. had to turn it down.

casino 8.50/hr as a janitor only 40 mins away so i took it.

local internet provider is gonna call me this week to let me know if i get that job or not. ive already been interviewed twice but it is 11-14/hr.

then honda called me and went over my app and i have to go to a local school next month to take a SAT type test to see what my math and reading skills are.

these are apps i sent out MONTHS ago lol.

from the sounds of it you guys have it way worse up in michigan, people in detroit are livin in madmax times

Detroit isnt so bad right now, still very high unemployment, but the big 3 are hiring again, and chrysler has started up another plant in the area.

Im happy I dont work for the big 3, but most of the people I work with used too, or have family that still does so I hear all the scuttlebutt.

I'm trying to find something else also....my $8.50/hr marina job this year got cut from a 40hr/wk full time to a 20hr(at most) part time, almost on an "as needed" basis. The mod monkey isn't going to be happy, but I haven't told him yet. Shhhh....

I had applied and been interviewed for a job with Parsons working on the hudson river dredging project as a boat/ferry driver, which after talking with the guy doing the hiring seemed pretty promising. Then I found out a suit at GE had a nephew or something who needed a job, and of course that's who got the job. Which sucked, since it was going to be a 40hr week at like $14/hr, with potential for 1.5x overtime. Probably would have doubled my income, but since that fell through and the marina is really cutting back on hours/staff, now I've got about half as much. Hoping to pick up another part-time somewhere else but I've sent like 7 apps/resumes out for local part-times and haven't heard back from any of them. So I'll have lots of time to ride Mr Max, but no money to spend on it.
