I know that a lot of you don't care much for range reports but this one got personal. I'm sympathetic too all of you who write about your daily lives and mishaps. So, your stuck with mine if you've come here to read....:rofl_200:

Knight's Shooting Sports has tried for years to get me to shoot regularly on their range. The place is under different management now. Frank the manager asked me to shoot there on a Monday or Tuesday. He told me I'd get a special rate. $10.00 per hour. It had been $18.00 plus an hour to shoot there in the past.

I get there about 10 AM. Frank's nowhere to be found. I identify myself as a professional shooter and ask for the military discount. I'm told that it'll be $8.50 an hour, instead of $10.00. That's the first step to pissing me off. Special Price, My Ass.

I'm asked if I want to shoot on the rifle or pistol range. I told them I didn't need 50 yards, just 25. I'm there more to test loads and magazines than serious shooting for groups, the 45 Win Mag Upper I'm using is already set up for 25 yards.

So, I get to the range master, identify myself again. He gives me the full briefing and informs me that if I shoot over the line marked on the target that I'll be warned. If I shoot the upper frame, I'll be escorted out and pay for any damage... Thank you, I've fired over a million rounds and haven't missed by that much in 45 years.

I try my best to set the target up to go out 75 feet. 25 Yards... Then I find out that they only go out to 65 feet... My shots are low because I left the scope set as is.... I start to get a rest on the bench as no chairs are provided. Range master runs out and informs me that I'll end up on the floor if I try to rest on the bench....:damn angry:

To shorten the rest of the story. My rifle worked fine as did the magazines.

Shooting there Totally Sucked and when I checked out, I didn't even get my military discount... It'll be after the End of the World that I'll go back there to shoot.

BTW, All targets were done free hand,,, standing..

There would have been a dam fight if he tried to dump me on the floor, one of us would have had a bad day.........

That really sucks too, cause going to the range should be a relaxing enjoyable time. Sorry to here about your rough range day.

That being said... That is one sexy rifle!

Thanks Guys.

Yes, the "Sexy Rifle" is a Spikes Lower, Laser Engraved with my Avatar. A Wilson Combat Trigger Pack, Magpul ACS Stock, Hogue Grip, oversized mag release. The 16" Upper is a new offering from Ron Williams in 45 Winchester Magnum. Magpul MOE Rifle Length Hand Guard and Magpul's Angled Forward Grip. 3-9X32 Mini AO Scope...

We now have easily modified, inexpensive magazines that will do 10 rounds and hold the bolt back when done....:clapping:

BTW: Went to the V.A. to process paperwork for my Mother to get survivor benefits, she's in a Nursing Home. I got to the appointment 10 minutes till 2, it's on the fifth floor of a federal building down town. Went to reopen the office door after just missing to catch it when the receptionist arrived back at the office. The door was locked. So,,,, I knocked and was told they would be open at 2 PM. My reply was Hello, I'm Disabled, a Veteran and have an appointment... What do you expect me to do, stand here in the hallway for 10 minutes... No reply... I know she heard me... Our meeting took all of a minute. I slammed the door really good when I left. it shook the wall right next to the receptionist.. She squealed like a Stuck Pig...:rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:

This whole day has Sucked.... Hope I wake up to a better one tomorrow....

WOW!!!!!

Sorry to hear about the bad day at the range....

$10.00 an HOUR to shoot makes me glad I live here...

And I NEVER thought I would say that!!!!

Dang Grumpy, and I thought I cornered the market on bad days. Glad you took a bullet for me! Your a good man and a I know that first hand. We've never talked guns except for the .22 conversion for our pistols. When I get into some fun money, I'm coming to you for an AR style bang bang. Hang in there brother!

Damn Dave, sorry to hear that one....A good range is hard to come by, even here in the "Metropolis"

My two bad range days both involved setting the range on fire, years apart...

Once with a Dragons Breath 12 guage rnd I didn't realize I had loaded up in a SPAS-12....

The other was with a Colt Walker .44 Blackpowder reproduction.....

The 1st one was pretty damn entertaining since it left a 75 yard long 3 ft wide strip of burning grass from me out to where the target was,:rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:
I had been shooting slugs at paper and my girlfriend who was feeding me rounds from an ammo bag handed me a round of dragons breath not knowing what it was, and I failed to notice the weight difference:bang head::bang head:........They kicked me out as a formality but since I was a regular they said it was just for show... :punk::punk: I was back the next week with no hard feelings

kaboom: There are times being very remote would be a blessing...

PATMAX: Don't hear enough out of you Brother. It brightens my day just to hear from you... 45 ACP and 45 Win Mag are the great AR's I'm playin with for now... Also picked up a Rossi Ranch Hand in 44 Magnum... It's literally a Blast to shoot... 24" total length, Lever Action... Like years ago, Wanted Dead or Alive show on TV. You're probably not old enough to remember that one though...:rofl_200:Take Good Care.....

Rusty, I wish I'd had something to set this range on fire with....:rofl_200:

Damn, ruff day. I'd invite you to my range; the fee is right but the commute would be killer.

SpecOps aren't you retired military? No option to go shoot on post? I know here at polk we have some good steel target ranges. Yeah they are outdoors, but they are free.

Nice grouping, Dave! Remind me to never be in your "sights" :worthy: Hope things work out with your mom.

Blurr, I may make it up to see you and KJ some year, my son lives in Fairbanks with his wife and my grandkids...:clapping: Alaska's a great place....

MagnaVMax: I have access to a great Federal Range but it's quite a trip to get there... RMW and I shoot his AR Pistol Caliber Uppers there..
It's something that's got to be scheduled though... Don't want to be there when they're testing 105's of A-10's.:rofl_200:

06VMAXIMUS: Thanks for the compliments on my groups. I hate shooting off hand when my back is totally FU but had no choice yesterday...

I remember going there with my budy a few years ago, We just went to screw around a bit. I was home on leave and we both had the free time. Ended up renting two hand guns and buying a few boxes of ammo. That place ended up getting expensive. Fast.

Sorry to hear about your sucky range day, I wouldnt go back there. The indoor range here is $17/hr which is insane in my book, glad I joined a club. Just put a National Match trigger in my AR, haven't shot it yet, might be shooting 3 gun monday with it.

I've never seen a range that charges by the hour, around here they all charge a flat fee for any amount of guns, or a flat fee per gun...no time limits...

Usually it's about 9 dollars flat or 7-9 per gun..........

One of our local area state parks has a range. Bring your own targets and pvc / wood frame , listen to the safety talk , shoot away , police up spent brass , no charge.

One range I use is free or atleast is right now. It's about a 3 hour round trip but the owner is great to us. He made mention that his prices may be going up in one of my threads on ARFCOM. Hope he was joking. It's invitation only right now. Must be too many people after invites...
