I am starting a thread that you will be seeing for at least 2 months.
i am starting making my bike after the problem i had with my engine from the start.
maybe some of you will find this thread interesting some of you may not.

i had a spun bearing, my crank damaged the upper block of my engine.

so new block was purchaced with new heads (new vlaves springs o-rings e.t.c)
the head has stage one flow. they will be i dont know if this is the right terminology shorten so i achieve 11.5:1 compression. the upper block willb be bored to 79mm so i install my forged pistons.
stripped all my frame cause i will have it all chromed. today i was 7 hours trying taking out the black color of the frame and did better than i thought. posted some picks and i will keep you posted for my progress.

Make sure the government doesn't find out about your rebuild...they'll take all your money cause they're broke...:biglaugh:

today i got my sample of my stainless velocity stacks a friend made me. perfectly seals on the carb and no cutting in the edge to fit the frame. same diameter though (missing just the curve that tips down). he can do more if anyone with fcr's carbs want

Looking good. I hope someday I'll be able to open up my engine and do some work to it.

Looking good so far George, I really like the idea of a chrome frame, that looks badass. I'd chrome mine but I'm afraid that would just be a little too much on my bike. I'm kinda pushing it now with all the chrome I have. But I am curious how expensive was it to chrome the frame? But I'm having issues with my swingarm that I'm trying to address once and for all. One more question, are those Vgas carbs from UFO ? Anyway, good luck with the rebuild and hope to hear you up and riding again soon. Take care, Ed

Thank you Ed. the frame will cost me about 200 usd to be chromed here in a friend of mine that this is his job. i did all the preparation my self ( removing the black color untill the frame was plain metal) that would cost me extra 300 usd if my friend did it for me.

the stacks is a copy from the blue plastic that pcw setup had. it is not ufo. another friend did them for me here in my town which has laser machines , cnc e.t.c . where the blue stacks are broken ,pcw had a cut cause the couldnt fit on the carbs(the frame was blocking them) so i didnt make this curve in the end of the stacks and reduce the outer diammeter so not cutting was neccesary.

this week i hope i will in my hands my v-max unique scoops. hope the guy that will make them understood completely what i want. i am so anxious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

today i finished my new fork extensions. replaced my coo extensions cause i wanted my fork to seem one and no too many pieces. no i have to have fork + externsions powdercoated. but i am still searching the color

George be carefull with the frame and forks threads (swingarm pivots, side panels threads, steering racers seats, etc and fork top threads) when chroming/powdercoating. I zinc plated some parts on my bike and i got problems fitting bearings and other stuff alike... I had to remove that stuff again to get back to specs... I recommend anodizing for the forks instead of Pcoating... or just polish them to match the frame. You need to remove the steering lock and racers as well. To be honest with you i wouldn't chrome it. For it to be perfect should be a US chrome. They chrome better than us here (i don't know about Greece). Why don't you do a different color paintjob like reds Crashmymax? Its cool and easier to clean and doesn't get yellowish with heat and moisture. Grab the chance and brace the frame behind the tank, those 4 corners with 4 steel triangles...

Polish is no option (as noticed... lol) it gets rusty (not McNeill though lol)

The UFO setup is a V shaped with stacks protruding diagonally from the sides. PCW uses vertical stacks under faux tank...

+1 for us chrome. in greece chorme is no match to us chrome as well. i may paint the frame. i will eat many hour in googling findint out what to do with the frame and my bike color. thanks for the tips.
do yopu know how much thickness you gain whith powdercoating ?

I just ran into some clearance issues as mentioned here.

My anodizer said that his hard coat anodizing adds .0005"

Talked to Sean about his chrome and it adds .003-.004"

Couldn't tell you what powder coating adds.

I do know that after having my USD forks tubes chromed they no longer fit inside my extensions. :bang head:

You could ask first LOL

PC is much much thicker then chrome or anodize.

It depends on how its done. Depends on the grain, the amount, etc... If it sticks on a place where you don't want it its a pain to remove. I had some on some parts badly isolated and i had to carve it with a scalpel and it took me a while, so if you do it isolate it well... I would Pcoat the frame... its very good protection against hydraulic fluid... Its not affected by it..

hello guys it's been a while away. have some unsolved problems with my work and having courts and stuff. have my bike still in pieces but making some progress.

stripped my frame and painted gloss black. i couldnt have it chrome cause the baths weren't so large to take all the frame in. next week my forks, triple trees , master cylinders and everything else that wasnt chromed on my bike wil be chromed ready for install. i ll post pics when i receive them. made some test for my new color of my bike and went out well. it was a very quick test .it hasnt even clear coat on it.. installed my wire harness , waiting for tuned engine.so i think in about 3 weeks i ll be again riding. i used a spare cover i had for a test panel for my bikes color. black base , house of kolor dark gold flake, and a mix of yellow and orange kandy. took my hours to find the perfect dose of the two candies to satisfy me eye. when the bike will be painted with the normal procedure the flakes will sparkle a lot more tha this.
