Just picked up a beautiful 2012 on weekend.
Just poking around at this stage but have noticed when engaging first gear
from neutral ( bike stopped ) there is quite a clunk and a bit of a jerk.
The bike is low mileage. Is this to be expected ?
Will it smooth out when broken in ?
Adjust something ?

Normal I'd say especially if the engine is still at the higher rpm startup idle. The idle will go down after a couple of minutes of running.

Quick response !
True, engine was cold, oil thick. Rpm could have been fast.
My other bikes are BMW with a separate tranny.
This is a different set-up.
Have to get it up to operating temp when weather improves and see how it behaves.
Don't think there is anything to adjust.

When the engine is cold, I will sometimes click up into second, then down to first if I need to move the bike right away. The change into 2nd is less "clunky" and then shifting down to first is much smoother.
Or just move the bike in 2nd.....it certainly has enough torque to do that.
