No winning for me today. there were three other bikes. A turbo hyabusa, turbo triumph triple, GSXR 1000. This was the first time I ran 1/4 on my bike.
The bike: 1993 vmax. 38,000 miles. All stock except marks 4-1 and needles shimmed .30. Shinko tire with 24 psi. 190 lb rider
I've run an 1/8 mile track lately, so I was hoping for mid 11's knowing what my 1/8 times were. I was pleasantly suprised. My worst run of the day was 11.50. I need to try strapping the front. I also realized I'm not tucking down correctly. I'm staying to high to watch the factory tach.:bang head:. Note to self: buy straps, and get a shift light.

Best run 7.20 1/8, 11.24 1/4, 118.71 mph, 1.78 60 ft
Fastest mph 121.42

Very impressive for your first time out.......well actually it's impressive for ANY time out! Good job! :clapping:

Great times, and the first time? Be proud. That's better than I'd hope for on the first time out there.

Cool. It's been so long since I've made a run on a bike at the strip, I'd be happy with a 12 anything. You did really well for a pretty much stock bike....:clapping::worthy:

Thanks Guys,

Matt, I don't know the main jet size. It's whatever comes from the factory. The plugs show a little lean though.

Steve-o, First time down the 1/4, not the first time down the track. The track close to me is an 1/8. I got there twice this year.

I had to keep telling myself its not the length of the track, its the first 60 ft that was my job. The rest is just a ride down the track.

Any of you guys that have a chance to race, should do it. There's nothing like it. :punk::punk:

Back in the day, when I was a sponsored drag racer, After hundreds of comp runs and god knows how much test. After many changes and much tuning, I took my bike down to Indy for the Nationals and set a National record.

11.24 @120.85

I was delighted with that- as you should be with your times.

Of course My run was in the '60s on a Norton

We are having a Drag Strip day on Oct. 13th which will be the first time I take my Max on the strip. I just hope I'm not in the 14s <BMFG>

You'll do fine. Racing is like riding a bike. You never forget. You just have to kick the rust off.:eusa_dance:
