Don't underestimate the skill required to do that. I'd you lived on $50 a month, then repairing a crank instead of buying a new one is your only option, nice to see it being repaired instead of trashed.

Even Alan Millard doesn't attempt that as he builds up pressed cranks.

I thought the journals would be case hardened?

Did anyone notice the popcorn bag used as foot protection when welding? o_O

That`s brilliant! Indeed the skill needed is just epic. Skill, patience and time. And a lot of it.

I would still be very leery about beating a motor with one of those repaired cranks in it. I would be forever nursing it.
