I have seen a couple things on doing a differential swap from a venture but I haven't found a decent write up on it yet in terms of all what has to be done, what year diff to get, any special notes to watch for. If I could please get some info on this I would much appreciate it. I have a 95 vmax with plans in the works and this was one thing on the list.

You will have better luck finding info if you put final drive in the search engine. It is not a differential.
The final drive has to be from a 1986-93 Venture 1300cc model. The earlier 1200 cc
drives are not compatible.
The swap is straightforward. The original Max driveshaft is used. Some folks have difficulty putting the driveshaft into the universal joint, but you will find tips on this by searching driveshaft.
I did the swap a few years ago, and am pleased with the results. Revs are lowered by about 500, and in my case this puts the engine at about 3600 at legal highway speeds, which seems to a smoother zone as far as vibrations go. Mileage is increased (although only marginally) as well.
Cheers!

Heck ya that sounds awesome for sure I will look that up right now, thank you for your help

Don't you have to mount a shock stud into a drilled hole you have to do on the Venture final drive unit?

Yup, forgot about that, Medic.
I tried the "double nut" thingy when removing the stud from the Max drive, but it didn't budge. Then tried a small (6") pipe wrench, which worked dandy, but I had a few threads to clean up as a result.
Also, while you have the driveshaft out, it's a good time to lubricate the splines on the universal joint end. This maintenance is not covered in the bike's manual, but the splines are often found to be dry.
Cheers!

The stud swap is by far easier, especially if you find a venture diff that is already drilled and tapped. The newest ones have are not even drilled, plus they have a speedo sensor hole that needs plugged. The next step is the hole is drilled but not tapped. The older ones are drilled and tapped.

I don't remember what that translates to in years. This info was posted on the forum a few times. If you search, I'm sure you'll find it.

Tearing the differential apart is possible but time consuming. You either need to buy the special tools, borrow them, or make your own.

I should have some units on hand though I am not usually as cheap as ebay.

I have a guy on here that messaged me that he has one for sale, my only concern now is people are saying you lose that top end torque in 5th gear and you have to drop it down to 4th or it will take longer to pass in 5th, I love the get up and go of the vmax I don't really want to lose that specially if I'm going up hills in Colorado with my girl on the back. Hmm decisions decisions lol

Some will swear there is no loss in "pull" but that's not my personal experience. If you're are car guy this is the equivalent of swapping from a 3.66 gear ratio to a 3.33 ratio.

There is a difference in every ratio.
Run a 1/4 mile and run out of gear and you will know the difference.

I have one in of the years range Miles is talking about, I had to swap in the stud mount from the VMax to the Venture. At first I could notice the slightly taller gearing, after about a week I was still saying the Max should have a sixth gear. I was starting off in second. A Vmax has enough balls to have been a six speed to begin with. Now I run a new motor from PCW with a complete Venture gear set and the venture final drive plus the reduction in the MadMax off set. I think its barely turning 4k at 85 now with plenty of pull/acceleration in fifth up to the Eisenhower tunnel on I70 here in CO.
So even with this combination, when the Vboost opens it pulls hard and strong.
