Gentlemen,
New to the forum and new to the Vmax although my dad has had 3 of them! I come from riding sport bikes and would love to improve the handling on my 1997 vmax. I have done extensive research on this forum and decided I would like to do radial tires, race tech springs & emulators, possibly upgrade rear shocks, braided front brake lines. I did contact mr. Morley and while he responded and has a nice set of wheels I simply cannot afford them at the time.

Nothing the matter with a 'wish-list.' If you have the $ ready to pounce, you might find online the big-ticket rear wheel, which probably will start at $750 and go up from there. Fork springs and cartridge emulators for our VMax will cost you (new) ~$130, for springs:

Rear shocks, the Progressive Suspension least-expensive model is the 412, $300 and $700+ for the P.S. 444's. Want Ohlins? Dig deeper, much deeper.

A set of SS braided lines for the forks and a couple pairs of HH rated caliper pads will be about $40/caliper (pads), for hoses ~$122

In other words, omit the rear wheel for the time being, and your other choices will be about the same price, all-told.

Radial tires are kind of a wash, as bias-ply or radial, you need tires.

Set your notifications on auction sites for the wheel, and maybe you'll find one and make it yours, at a price you can swing.

Thanks for the advice guys! Funny you say just enjoy it “as is” for now… that’s exactly what my dad says haha! While it is a great bike and very unique I just can’t seem to leave anything stock. I do think I will put the rear wheel on hold for now and take care of all the other things you mentioned.

Does anybody have first hand direct comparison between the shinko 230 and 777 tires? Really excited to get the bike dialed in so I can ride it this spring! I live in Oregon so it’ll be cold and rainy the next few months.
