what is that fitted to exhaust cams?

In the cut out diagram of the engine, there are additional items on the exhaust cams - what are they for?

Compression release.

There is a centrifugal compression release system that makes the engine spin easier when starting.

I didn't think it was on all the exhaust cylinders but it may be.

It holds the exhaust valve open when the starter is turning the engine over and then disengages when it starts.

Ive heard it said that's why the Gen 2 needs several revolutions to fire up.....a lot of new owners complain about that.
