When I tried to start my Gen 1 today it did not make the noises that you hear when you turn on the ignition and would not crank at all. Had the neutral light and the head light and that was it.
Headlight dimmed noticeably when I hit the starter button.
Checked the voltage and got 13.3.
Been about 2 or 3 weeks since my last ride and had no issues then.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance..

Run/off switch got some junk in it? You toggle back n forth a few times ?

Sticky sidestand cutout switch, usually responds to some sprayed lubricant, and working the plunger back & forth a few times.

As j deitz 1979 said, the handlebar switches can be in-need of some attention. There is a sticky about disassembly & cleaning of the switch pods. The starter button is known to hang-up sometimes. Again, some spray lube and mashing the button, ensuring that it travels both fully in & out, is needed. It doesn't hurt to open it for a thorough inspection and cleaning/lubrication.

The ignition switch may need service.

Almost just disappeared from this thread after I started my serious troubleshooting... The run switch was off:(. I've had a motorcycle off and on since I was 15 or so, but as an older guy a Dirty Harry quote comes to mind "A man ought to know his limitations.".
Apologies.

Been there before brother! Go to start her up for the first time after winter and nothin... Got a little worried and stepped back to take a look from a different perspective. DOH! Run/off switch. Flipped that sucker and VROOM! Off to the races!

Me too.
Had the seat off and started to delve into the innards before I realised I hadn't switched off the immobiliser.
Wot a pillock! :(
