The NZ government has proposed to up the ACC levy which basically means an accident corporation levy which is attached to our registration to cover accident costs for motorists. Gunrunner has posted about this subject recently.
Bottom line is they want motorcyclists to pay MORE, MUCH more than previous, depending on CC rating> greater than 600cc like me goes up by about 3 x being the hardest hit. That's now going to cost a bout $740 a year.

There is a huge convoy heading to our capital city next week to parliament to voice our concerns. Meantime here in Auckland was our local rolling protest today with about 350 pissed off riders in formation doing a run over the city.
It was an awesome event seeing so many bikes.

The folk's loved the Vmax :punk: got lots of people coming up and asking questions.

The supplied pictures are not my own except the last one but courtesy of the Kiwibiker forums

Man......that sucks....

Does any body else get the feeling that fun is becoming even MORE of a rich man's game all over the world????:ummm:

And not due to the initial buy in.......

But due to regulations and fees.....:damn angry:

Tuesday they are heading from all corners of NZ and heading towards the Capital Wellington . They were expecting 6500 bikes , but a media released police reports says to expect 3500 bikers . We will not lie down on this as we getting lots of support from the Ferry Companies with special deals so the south islanders , with many motellers etc offering up cut price rates on accomodation for the riders and there bikes . :clapping:

Good job in uniting and fighting against this injustice. Politics is a funny thing, they like to pick on the groups that they will not do anything about it. It looks like they picked the wrong group this time.

Unfortunately im off ACC today and back at work tomorrow in another role so am unable to take part . Ive been trolling certain kiwi biker websites and large groups have been seen leaving Auckland and bikers have been arriving in Taupo for tomorrows rally in Wellington . There has been lots of bikers coming thru here today (alot more than usual ) . The bulk seem to be staying in Palmerston north/ Taupo and meeting up in Sanson to ride in together along the west coast to Wellington in the morning .
A certain VMF (mod monkey) contributor from Auckland , New Zealand who will be in Wellington tomorrow on business so if he just happens to take his camera and get a few snaps that would be good . The Westpac Trust Stadium (home of the Wellington Hurricanes- Super14 rugby) have offered parking for the 6000+ bikes . Its sure to make everyone notice what is going on especially when for last year the toal cost of claims per bike and car were $101NZD so that makes the 300% rise unjustable even when ACC NZ still made a $1,000,000,000 profit

It was reasonable weather for the ACC Protest Rally today , Police had the count at 3500 bikers but organisers told media it was 12500 bikers but was down graded to 5000 . The cops apparantly went thru the stadium and ticketed illegal bikes while the rally was on .
Hopefully Jedi- took some pics . :clapping:

It was an incredible sight, thousands of bikes riding into Wellington and sending a clear message to our Government.
We won't tolerate any crap with levy increases and we formed on the steps of parliament and told them so.
When the wimp Nick Smith (ACC minister) finally addressed the rally he was shouted down with a chorus of "bullshit, bullshit"

The pics attached are not mine. I have some video to upload sooooon.

It seemed to be working with the minister and NZ Prime Minister now saying that such a high increase is unjustified - but we will see .

Next Rally we are gonna "Shut that City Down "

It aint over yet .... :clapping:

Nice Vid work Steve , that road of bikes never ended and from the star to where they were turning in is just over 1km long wish i could of gone .
They had a beautiful day for it considering today has been torrentual rain all day . :clapping:

The Herald reported that the convoy of bikes for the Wellington protest was about 25 kms long, would have been an awsome sight. Our protest here in Tauranga had just under 1100 bikes and that was pretty inspiring to be amongst it.

Well, we're at it again tomorrow here in Auckland, hopefully we get a good turnout and make our point.

We didnt win but the jury is out with the new rates for +600cc bikes . They were to be $745.71NZD per year for registration it is now $426.92NZD p.a .
BRONZ (Bikers Rights Organisation of New Zealand ) still think its still to much of an increase from $250 p.a but is liveable . A 20000 strong protest is being planned for Feb 2010 . :clapping::clapping::clapping:
