Hi,
I've read the Forum re. stuck floats & I attempted the following, with gas spilling first out of overflow tubes at carb., then corrected that area, then overflow into breather tubes, while all the time gas was flowing into the exhaust. No I didn't explode.:damn angry:
I did the following corrective measures:
1. banged the float with rubber mallet while engine running.
2. shut down & tried again. Way too easy a fix.
3. removed the slides & polished with emery cloth; sprayed with WD40,
the sprayed card cleaner into carbs.
I did correct the breather tubes overflow, but still gas enters the exhaust from those two carbs. No issues with # 3 & 4 carbs.
I do not feel competent (72 yrs. & ability to do minor repairs on a bike)
to perform the "shotgun" (remove carbs). I've tried that skill level before & did one step wrong or missing & then had to do it all over again.
So, do you then recommend I find a mechanic who can work on a VMAX?
I give up on the easy fixes suggested.
Thank you for the info. that I did use. This site is great for the newbie, as
at the least, one realizes the various skill levels to correct issues.
Now I can at least explain the issue to a mechanic (that I tired the easy steps).
