Hi all i'm just about at the point of unbolting the motor and removing from frame, question can do you seperate motor from drive shaft with out removing the rear end. the yamaha work shop manual doesn't explain this step in the removing motor section.

Yes.

You can but it's ten times easier to get the engine out if you take the rear off (at least temp) and remove the swingarm. Then remove the middle drive gear assy (three bolts and shims). You can re-install the wheel, swingarm, diff parts and then the engine will clide right out without scratching up the frame or struggling.
