has any one got a led headlight setup. when i mean led not just some leds in the head light but the actual light to see the road comes from a led headlight not hid not halogen. i watched some videos on youtube and the are serious stuff vs the hid light more bright and you can see far more distance

sorry forn replying but i am again away with my unit. it is definetely bright when you see the headlight from the front. are you happy with what you see in the night ? when an other bike is next to you with halogen lamp or hid have you noticed if your lights are brighter ?

I think I've seen posted results of the HID light with a projector as being quite a bit brighter and further down the hwy than is the LED light. A bunch of the guys on the Gen II forum are converting their headlights to an HID kit with projector lens.

Some of the guys on the M109 Forum are using these: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/one-...D-Car-Headlight-Car-Fog-light/1566519786.html 3600 lumens! There is a thread comparing HID to LED, and while there has not been a side by side comparison yet, some HID owners are claiming that these LEDs are BRIGHT! I have a spare ballast, harness and bulb from an HID setup I ordered for my Goldwing or I would have ordered one of these already. Because it's a car kit you get a spare driver and bulb.

I keep reading that leds are bright to look at, but don't light up the road as well.

HID is the way to go. LED's are ok for marker, show and running lights but wouldn't want them to light the road.

+1 Today leds aren't up to task..
I installed a 4300K Bixenon HID kit in the Morley tri-bar light (with led ring), it work far better than OEM light with 100/90W H4 bulb...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say IMO, the HID's demonstrated in the 2nd video do not have projectors in front of them to focus the beams on down the road. This is what was the case for all earlier HID kits available. Once people found out how to combine them with a focusing projector lens, they seem to be the bee's knees now. I don't do all that much night riding with my Vmaxes, and so, have no plans for modifying any of mine.
I have to say, the LED bulb looks a 100% easier to install, considering it seems plug & play -vs- several hours of modification required to retrofit the HID & reflectors into the OEM headlight shells. Personally, only for me, if I needed a bit more illumination for my riding style, I'd be adding a couple fog-style h3 lights to the crash bars, and focus them slightly left & right of center to better see what was in the ditches that might be ready to jump in front of me. But that's just my riding style and preferences.
