He was slated to testify on the Benghazi Incident next week. His resignation means he will not testify now (unless something changes).

This does not apply to public figures who are invested with the public trust and rely on its good will. You might convince the wife but the public will never buy it.

CIA folk will still testify during the Benghazi hearing, and they have access to the same info etc. I think it really sucks that a guy with such a history and record is made to step down due to a personal affair. I guess this a bigger deal for intelligence officers though due to concerns of them being blackmailed for information etc.

Still, doesn't seem quite right to me he loses his professional job for his personal life.

In regards to WHO testifies, it matters a lot when it comes to what and how much you know, and how you know it, in regards to bring prosecuted for perjury, hearsay testimony versus personal testimony etc.
Not that I give a crap, I think they are just wasting more of the tax payers money. Bill Clinton could have hired all the hookers in Nevada for life with the money wasted on a dumb ass investigation into whether he got a blow job or not.

On the testify thing; the FBI investigation that lead to this revelation started long before the events at our foreign consulates, IF we can believe the news.
Albeit the timing may have worked out for him in a coincidence.

Here's some food (or pictures) for thought, with no opinions expressed other than he's been married for 37 years and people that do that generally don't get divorced, and;
Wife's of that tenure generally don't get the wool pulled over their eyes.
I find it hard to believe his wife was not aware of it.
And some wives truly wish their husbands to be happy beyond the limits if what others might find to be acceptable. Or sometimes they just don't want to be bothered with that "part" of the marriage.
They allow it or even encourage it with no hard feelings.
