The PUIG windshield for the Gen2 has one critical flaw in the new hardware. The custom bolts going into the tachometer housing have a non threaded end. This is part #6 in the Bill of Material.
The bolt is a M8 with a 1.25 thread pitch with 6 mm clear at the end. The end of the bolt has no threads because it is a slip fit into the rubber/neoprene/ polymer bushing on each side of the tach.
The new bolts will not thread into the motorcycle because the opening threads are damage from removing the thread length that goes into the Tach.
I wanted to avoid stripping the internal threads on the bike so the answer is to clean up the threads on the new Puig hardware. Of course I had to buy a metric die set as mine was SAE.
Once the bolts were run through the die set, it was easy to finish the installation.
