Shinko's do seem to be kind of hit and miss. Most people report good luck, but requiring a lot of weight to balance seems to be a common trend.

I'm cheap, but I do realize tires are not a place to cut corners. Part of me sees the Shinkos with just a good rating as the ME880s on motorcyclesuperstore, and they cost roughly 50% less.

However, my one inhibition about the Metz was they were only H rated to 130 instead of V rated to 149 like the Shinkos. But Sean mentioned that he's had H rated tires on a dyno to 200 and no issues, and that rating is for one hour at maximum load, so quick bursts of speed on the highways wont hurt anything.

I've heard that mismatching tires is almost never a good idea
