Hi all:
I read Gleno's great post about steering, bearings, and race removal, and am in the midst of trying to remove the bearing race from the bottom of my '89 Max.
Now, Gleno talks about using the diamond Dremel tips to cut thru that bottom race. I bought a bunch of them, and have ground the beejeepers out of a vertical line in the method he describes, but I STILL can't get the race to come out.
So, my questions are these:
1) How do I know what is TOO far to cut into the race? (I'm afraid to cut into the frame itself.)
2) What do I do AFTER a sufficient cut is made?
Thanks folks for your help and enduring my frustration!
