So I’m in the last step of getting my air box out and the one screw on the middle of the top of the box will not break free From the apparatus that holds the velocity stacks. It’s spinning the cylinder and I’m not trying to break it, any ideas? View attachment 83442

Can you get a small, thin flat blade screw driver under the head? Then pry upward while turning screw to see if the screw releases.

At work now unfortunately, I can definitely try that. The po had it boogered up a little already and I’m not sure how the velocity stacks ride up and down on the shaft that the screw is holding. I’m probably going to grind of the head like fire-medic recommended but not sure how I’m going to proceed from there. I think the po was going to do an air box mod and got this far and said heck with it, a bunch of the screws around the air box were already ruined.

I had a very similar set of mirrors on my Katana, the Rizoma Tomoks that are about the same size and shape, and had the same issue. I had to move to be able to see anything behind...kind of felt like it defeated the purpose and went with a set of bar end mirrors, which is also what I have on the VMAX.

They look great but functionality is a little lacking, at least for bigger/broader riders.

So I drilled the head of the screw off and was able to get the air box off, screw is still broke in the nut. Not sure yet how I’m going to go about that, maybe put a small nut on the screw? Anyway I’m waiting for the mails to come , they will be delivering my air filter today.

So did the air box mod and now I’m doing the AIS mod but I’m not positive I plugged it right, I enclosed a picture if you could help that’d be great. I also installed my gurued ecu. I fired it up and it appears to be right. But I couldn’t find any real good pics of the AIS plugs.

I also used to have a first gen many years ago. Recently was going to purchase another first gen but couldn't justify both bikes at the moment with as little as I get to ride my gen2. But I still think it would be cool to have both. Lol

I bought a set of sumitomo 6 piston calipers from Sean. They arrived yesterday morning and Sdt354 and I got them on and bled in short order. We went on a 30 mile shakedown ride and man what a difference from stock. Lever feel and feedback is much improved and the braking power is astounding. I’m confident that on warm sticky blacktop with a proper warm tire I’ll be able to lift the rear. I would not have remotely considered trying that with stock.
this is a lot of performance upgrade for the money.

That motivated me to check upgrades for my early model Gen 1. The lever feel was a big improvement. And the stopping power, like VMAXXIMUM said, was impressive. Our shakedown ride is out of the way. Time for some serious seat time now.

Good day all
Stayed home today had an uncomfortable night of roasting so I figured I would stay home today I’ll do a self test later tonight and if good head back in tommorow we have managed to stay operational through all of COVID fuckery few people sick but we had a very good plan right from the start to deal with issues I have a great crew of people and we are all very social it was tough but we make it work

You still using the original brake cylinder?

Yes the stock master is correct. It’s got to be one of the simplest upgrades ever. I already had stainless steel lines so all that needed to be changed were the calipers. Stock rotors are correct and usable.

Thanks a lot - next on the list... I was considering the R1 calipers.

Yesterday I buttoned up my Gen 2 and took it for a ride, after the air box mod along with the AIS mod which I’m not positive I did correctly and swapping the new gurued ec I think it’s running a little better I had one little issue after an hour ride, I shut the bike off and about an hour later went to start it and it took 3 tries. Wondering if that’s normal after the mods?
