Yamaha Stator Coil Oil Cooling Kit

I've never heard of that before, do our stators run so hot that they would need additional cooling?...........................Tom.
 
Apparently. I guess they don't get enough oiling.
I read somewhere the bolt has a hole through it and will let the oil pass through to the stator.
 
Has anyone used one of these- also is it a misprint or is there a reason he did not include '85 model?

This stator cooling kit has been around for many years, I've have worked on a lot of V-max engines & never seen one without the kit installed from Yamaha. Maybe it was intended for the older Venture engines (1983~1984)? A quick check would be to remove the tuning fork emblem from the stator cover to peek & see if you already have one install. The telltale signs would be if the splash washer is present & does the head of the crank bolt have the very small oil port hole.
