Get to add another "kill" stamp to my airbox cover. Gent on an FJR1300 wanted to race so who was I to say no. To be honest it was closer than I would have liked (I botched the launch), but quite quickly I passed him and never looked back. Stopped along the road and chatted for a bit with him about our bikes, then was off to home:biglaugh:

From what I have heard, You would have lost with out the bigbore.

Ah, that explains it. I would have thought an FJR as a pretty formidable opponent for a stock bore, normally aspirated Max.
still a high 10 low 11 machine with 80 technology ..that makes it so much more amazing

The FJR's are a pretty close runner with a well tuned jetted and piped VMAX with a rider. You arent going to smoke one but you should be able to holeshot them and stay ahead.

I met the enemy, and we tied:bang head: Ran up against a TL1000R track bike that I couldn't pull, but thank goodness he couldn't pull away from me either. It is a friend of mine's bike that has dyno'ed at 147 RWHP so I don't quite feel too bad as he has a much better power/weight ratio and his sprockets are set up for high acceleration vs top end. We ran up from a dead stop to 240 km/h (144 mph for those not up to speed with the metric stuff) and had a blast, both were grinning ear to ear.

Wow, that Tiller must have been punched out as they are generally a slow heavy bike.

Did you ever meet Tom Coulby? His TL is no where near stock form. Magnesium wheels, Power Commander, bored out w/high comp. pistons, heads redone. That and it is in race livery with small lights added to make it legal... well kind of LOL.

a group of us went riding the other day and one of my buddies that has an 03 max with a kerker started blindly talking shit to another friend with an RC51 w/ power commander and sato exhaust. It got real ugly real quick.

I have a Tiller and a Max, don't underestimate the Tiller. Rider skill will determine the outcome here.

So did I, but I know the numbers Jim's bike puts out so I know a stock or even semi modded Tiller wouldn't be able to hang with his VMax.

RC51 is another slow overweight bike by SS standards. Besides this thread is about Jim's bike not about a stocker with a pipe.

I was visiting Tom Coulby when he read about this race...it gave him a good chuckle. According to Tom, his TL1000 and the 1428 both hit the throttle at the same time. Tom looked up fully expecting the big bore to be out in front but it wasn't. He checked to his left and then to his right but no Vmax there either. He said when the Max caught up there was chatter about a face shield malfunction that may have changed the result of the race.

Cheers,

Blaine

Shades of Janet Jackson, huh! Yes, its just like a wardrobe malfunction, only in this case it sounds like someones's trying to cover his ass!

Cheers!
