My Marks Exhaust will be in Thursday. I'm fairly sure I need exhaust gaskets. Don't think they will be supplied. Mark said something about springs. What springs might he have been refering to? I was so excited to actually speak with him and make the order, everything flew right over my head.:bang head: What else do I need in parts and are there any trouble areas when removing the old exhaust or installing the new? Thanx for any input. Blonde Week, This Week or just Male PMS.:rofl_200:

I doubt they will be supplied. many times you can reuse them without any problem.

the springs for his exahust i have to imagine come with it, but gaskets will not. depending on how the oem exhuast rested you may ened them you may not. i'd have sean send you some and if you don't need 'em send 'em back.

If you need/ want exhaust gaskets I'd get those. Mark supplies all the springs you will need. You will need to keep handy the stock bolts that bolt on the stock cans. You will also need a nut b/c Marks does not have a bolt on his mounting tab. I purchased some aftermarket SS allen head bolts that were a little longer than stock so I could put a lock nut on the backside.
That's all you should need to do the install. I laid mine all out on a moving blanket so I could see how it would/ should go together before I started the install process. I would also leave all the bolts loose until you can fit all the connections. All the connections fit tight and did not need any high temp rtv to seal them up. If you have your centerstand on you will not need to remove it.

Normally the gaskets can be reused but I had 1 that was wedge shaped from uneven torqueing I would guess. Like Garrett said, it's a good idea to have a set on hand jic.
Also, I can't remember where the picture Redbone is referring to is posted but if you can locate it, and lay your pipes out the same way he did, it will help you determine where each pipe goes.

Thanx for the ideas. I've seen Redbone's picture of the system laid out. I saved it on my desktop so I can print it out and do the same thing. I'm doing some sort of O-Ring fix too. Right now I have the COO Parts. I don't want to upgrade the Oil Pump right now. What I have is going to be enough stress for me.:bang head:

Anyone have more thoughts?

Thanks,
Dave

+1 to what has been said
the exhaust will come with springs
it will not come with gaskets but, they may be reuseable. for how much they cost, I'd just buy em. They are cheap.

Its easier to install the Marks pipes that it is to remove the stock ones. Put everything together loose then tighten it up once its all on, you will need the wiggle room.

Check centerstand clearance, it may contact the left can if you don't grind the foot a lil bit. Maybe.

Mine came with 2 nuts that worked with the OEM muffler bolts. The OEM bolts weren't long enough for my liking if I used a lockwasher under the nut. I ended up buying a couple 10mm button head bolts in stainless and nuts to match for mounting the cans

One can was about touching the shock. the other had about 1/4" of clearance. I just grabbed the can and pulled on it a bit (hard) till I got the clearance needed.

The joints fit together great with no leaks the whole time I had it. Some guys put sealant on the pipe joints. I did not find it needed with Marks pipes. Clear silicone or some ultra copper/high temp RTV is fine if you want to use it.

If you like to keep the fresh stainless look, California Customs purple polish works great at removing the gold hue on the pipes. I like the gold though.

Yes they do!

Ditto!

Using Mothers aluminum polish last winter with about 3 hours of work I had the pipes looking almost back to the original color, still with a tint of gold while the aluminum cans came out better than when they were new! I didn't try that hard on the cans as I didn't want it too chrome looking! :biglaugh:

I waited till our vacation was over to tear into this project. It's Saturday Oct 23rd and I'm starting to remove the stock exhaust. I have a lot of mods going at the same time. Things that you all may be able to help me coordinate in a logical order.

Here's what I've got and my present order. Coolant Flush and Change. Stock Exhaust system off, COO and Kawi O-Ring fix, Spin On Filter Adapter, Filter and Bracket. Marks Exhaust On, Center Stand install that CaptainKyle picked up for me. I think that's it. Let me know of problem areas and or special tools I'll have to make or buy. I'll try to document all this with photos so I can make up some mod guides.

Oh, Suggested Carb Setup for Sea Level. I've been told to shim the needles and adjust the Air / Fuel. Other thoughts???

Thanks,
