Hey there guys;

Just wanted to voice an opinion about a V-max parts specialist that I am not happy with. I am not done with the deal yet, but I am getting concerned that all will not work out in the end.
Here are the details:
I sent my seat in to be redone with foam and cover, and also bought a new set of bars as well. I knew going in that the seat would take some time to get back, as it was well indicated on the website. Knowing this I expected that if I sent it in before Christmas, I would have it back before March.
It is now April and I still do not have it back yet. I have been emailing him asking for a date, but the issue seems to be that he sends them out to someone else to have the work done.

Before I out the dealer publicly, I wanted to see what others opinions are about doing so.
Thanks,
Canadian_guy

i ITS HARD TO HAVE AN OPINION WITHOUT KNOWING WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH ! .... P.S. .. YOUR NOT " OUTING " HIM , YOUR JUST STATING THE FACTS ! .:confused2:

There's not a ton of Vmax "parts specialists" who have a website with pricing and a stock seat reworking service. I can think of a grand total of one.

Don't worry about getting chased off with flaming torches and pitchforks, but if you have brought this issue to the supplier's attention, re-posting it here is unlikely to help you get parts any faster.

I can only speak for myself on my seat time frames but it may give you a gauge. keep in mind I do this in my spare time and NOT as full time job.

I get the email/call someone wants a MAXGASSER , we go over material selection, stitch color options ,and any custom stitching they may want , vmax logo or whatever( one off is expennsive and takes time) Now I know what they want

I go to the garage roll off the material, trace the pattern (10 pieces) cut them, total time 3 -3 1/2 hours. Take it to my sewer( no guys I dont sew) usually get it back in a week its never been more the two.

Since the Pans are of my design, I have some on hand, usually at least five sets ready to build.

Same thing with the foams, my molds, I pour them, try to keep a selection on the shelf but some times need to pour one. time to pour and cure a set of foams more more then 2 hours

OK now I have pans, foams and cover ready to go. I glue the foams to the pans and let them set 24 hours.

next day glue front cover to front foam /pan stretch rear cover over foam/pan. set 24 hours

Now, prolly on a friday night or saterday morn everything is preped and ready to build, over the next two to three hours I pull and stretch and heat and rivit the cover into position, front and rear.

I now have two weeks maximum at the sewers( logo or custom will be longer) one week maximum for me to prep including curing time for the glue.and a morning to build. three to four weeks at the most.

I dont think Ive ever been over A month on delivery, Im sure if I have been I'll hear it now,at least I hope so.

I will say however that custom stitching can be a PITA because unless you have that cool machine that does all that nice stuff..........your at the mercy of someone else.

I cant Imagine A recoverd cut down seat taking four months.

Seans not the only one, and I wouldnt think Hed take that long with out letting you know whats going on.

I wouldn't have started the thread without naming the vendor. There is also a place to post vendor experiences here.

Name them up even if it's me. I don't think I have any that are THAT old though lol!

I think we all know who it is.
it says it takes time on the website. 3+ months is pretty long though. Im sure you will get it. When is the question.

Another sorry thread about the same vendor.. Canadian_guy, you should've spent a little more time researching here before deciding to buy your seat, we have at least two very good people doing great seats with A1 customers service here - they both chimed in already.

As it is, unless you're gonna ask for a refund, do grin and bear it, hopefully your seat will arrive soonish and then you can always have a bash at your vendor online, you won't be the first or the last. Just refrain from it until it comes, as it won't help you get it any earlier.

Well stated naughtyG. :clapping:

I know of one vendor that states clearly that turnaround time is substantial. I don't have a dog in this fight but for the money, why not sell your stock seat and get a totally new built to order, ass hugging beauty from Maxgasser for a price very close to a modded stock seat. Just saying...Maybe it's really cold in PA or it's hunting season or the black flies are really bad up there right now.

+1, I would try to resolve it with the vendor. It's well past March and we want to go riding. We have good people right on this site, like was mentioned, for seats. I hope it get's resolved soon for ya.

I've already selected my seat customizer, so knowing who yours is isn't going to sway my selection, but I am curious who it is. I think I have an idea, though. Please don't feel obligated to name him at this very moment and wait until you get your seat to post your review like the other bros advise. I'm just posting that I'm curious is all.

Great seat (it's what I have on mine :) and the bike's looking beautiful Klatuu.

But what's with the kitty? Is that a doh' pussy? lol

Here we go again... If you are not happy just say it. If the vendor is not up to his responsibilities he has to bare with it. One thing is saying that has some delays and justify the delay, another thing is just letting it go...
I've done some custom work for some guys and sometimes it takes longer because i have to wait on suppliers or the material is not readily available, or the machine breaks down, or some urgent work comes up, i just send an email to the buyer and let him know why is it taking longer. If its a BIG delay i'll always present the option for a refund. So far no one ever wanted to be refunded... Being straight forward is always the best option...

Well if it's not Sean, not Rick, then what, Jon? Wouldn't be shocking if we have another victim of "UFOs". He's famous for shit like this.

When I ordered my seat from Sean I did not have to send in my stocker until the replacement arrived, so I could use the bike in the meantime. It came in around a month from initial order to arrival at my door, and is as you'd expect, perfect.

or RMS.. off their webiste:

***ANY of the above charges NEED TO BE ADDED to the SportMax charges and shipping ***
***BUILD TIMES ON SEATS RUN AS HIGH AS 5-6 MONTHS***
