I'm 99% sure it is seeping through the wire harness gromet as the new stator didn't have the wrap on the wires that the original did...

Anyone else ever have this problem and, if so, what did you do to remedy it?

DS, do the following to ensure oil doesn't travel up the wires and through the grommet. Courtesy of Mr. Morley. :)

Simply pull the wiring into the stator cover some and spray it clean and dry with brake and parts cleaner. Then inject sealant in and around the wires and pull it back through while the sealant is still wet. This pull sealant into the grommet too.

As usual, the Fourm comes through (and in such a timely manner, as well)! Who do we talk to about getting spell check? :D

Thanks Mark (and Sean)!

I had this same problem. Thanks to Sean's instructions, it fixed it just as Mark said.
