does anybody know if and where i can find a autocad design of a vmax swingarm like otec. i have a friend with cnc machines and i could build one...

but i need a cad design to insert so the machine will do the rest.

We are hoping to have the stock arm in catia later this spring. We are going to do the stock arm first. Make our new tool for arm modifications. Then start looking at other arm possibilities.

If you find one let me know. I can change it for the specs desired. But it takes long to build it from scratch and i do not have the time available to fully draw it. I want to build a wider one to change my 180 into something a bit wider... Thanks

I was drawning this years ago for one crazy project...it took me couple of hours. Its not finished yet and the mesurments may not bo adequate.

Single left click on the object to switch the PDF onto 3D view.

I should have one more somwhere.
The one specialy designed for miling from one piece, something like otec stuff.
Need to dig my hard drive...

BTW...autocad sucks!

Yeah i do agree with you. Im using Solidworks 2010... thanks for the file Prez. I wanted to draw something more eye catching like OTec stuff thats why i said it takes a bit to draw and evaluate stress points. First step is to get all the OEM measures and then wide it or even make it longer with the major catch being the fact of having to fit a U-joint on wider tires. Actually i do not know what is the limit of span we can get without having to brake the drive shaft with a U-joint.

Prez, My father tried to teach me AUTO CAD before he passed away. I am with you 100% that it sucks! I use a CAD drawing program that is way easier to use and just as good..

AC is ok as it goes with 2D drawning but, its a PITA when you start 3D sketching!

Im using Alibre Design Expert and I can draw something like this in a 1h:

thats cool !!!!

because i am not a CAD user. this 3d pic contains actuall data (dimensions) of what the swingarm must have to fit in our bikes. or there must be some other inputs for the milling proccess???

No, unfertunetly those are only QUASI mesurments cuz I dont have a stock swingarm anymore to take out the tru mesurments.
Those are specs that I remember(or so).

You need to convert the cad file to g-code(cnc machine language) manualy or using one of many CAM softwares, Im sure the cnc machine owner have one on hand.

This is only pdf file which is only for reference.

ok .tommorow i will have an oem swingarm through laser scan so we get evey detail of holes width and every else we need so i use Przemek file for cnc cutting. does someone now what kind of billet alluminium Otec uses?

Laser scan will only give you x-y-z coordinates and it must be converted to CAD file which is not simple at all.

As for the aluminium.
The most durable aluminium comonly avaible on the market is PA9 (AIZnMgCu1.5 - 3.4365 - 7075 - A-Zn 5 GU). Its also very machine friendly.
Nothing more you need.

prez -> english update. the phrase "it also very friendly machinable' is way off. haha

you could say:

it is also very easily machined
or
it is also very machine friendly

If you can get me the point cloud the laser scan generated, I may be able to convert it to a solid.

I have a lot of CAD tools avaliable.

Im using the one CAD program which can do pretty anything.
Im also using some CAM softwares - in a fact Im working as an sheet-CAM specialist LOL

Anyway, suiting that file with mesurments is a matter of 1 hour.
I can export it to stp file as well.

What I would need is some basic mesurments like CC length, pivot wide etc.
