Anyone happen to know or have a link to information on the operation of "V-boost" on the V-max?
Does the TCI control its operation?
Does it open at a specific rpm or does it open based on rpm/load/???
Does it just open all the way when told to open, or does it vary based on load/rpm/???
Does the TCI actually "control" it, or does it just send 12V or so to the V-boost control motor and let it just open?
Does the TCI actually know if its open or does it send its "signal" and then assume its open?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Does the TCI control its operation? No, it opens based on RPM

Does it open at a specific rpm or does it open based on rpm/load/??? RPM only. There is a lag time between the starting of the servo motor and the opening of the butterfly valves. This laga is caused by a slack provided by the control cam. Therefore, the servo motor starts to operate at 5730 RPM but the vavlves begin to open at 6000rpm

Does it just open all the way when told to open, or does it vary based on load/rpm/??? It will be full open at 8000 rpm. So yes if you hold your RPM at 7000 it will be half open.

Does the TCI actually "control" it, or does it just send 12V or so to the V-boost control motor and let it just open?The TCI does not control it, it has its own circuitry, V-Boost valve control unit under the left scoop, based on RPM.

Does the TCI actually know if its open or does it send its "signal" and then assume its open? Other than RPM from #2 cylinder the TCI has no idea what the V-boost is doing.

Its only purpose is to allow the engine to breath better from 2 carbs above 6k rpm.

Any help would be much appreciated!

It should be in the service manual.

TCI does not control vboost. Vboost servo controller controlls the opening of vboost and does so by using ignition signal from ignition coil #2. The servo start the open signal around 5730 rpms but due to slack in cable there's a bit of a lag. So, vboost valves starting opening at 6000 rpms and is progressive in opening...not immediate. It's fully open by 8000 rpms.
 
If there is no communication between the TCI and the V-boost controller, why does the TCI pull timming if the V-boost controller is disconnected?
 
The TCI pulls ignition timing from the p/u coils and advance from the pressure sensor. The vboost controller get it's signal via the gray wire that goes from ignition coil #2 to the TCI. The tach gets it's signal from the same wire.

Its my understanding that the TCI will pull(remove, less advance, whatever ya call it) if you disconnect the V-boost electrical connector. Why would this be if there is not communication? Does something strictly "loop through" the v-boost controller or ???:confused2:
 
? You lost me. The only thing the vboost controller does is open the vboost. It does so via a spice to the gray wire that runs from ignitor to coil #2. Only other input to vboost controller is red for power. If you unplug vboost, you still get your ignition advance since that is "controlled" by vacuum sensor.
