Well, I have tested it every way I know possible, including sticking the cable end into the speedo and spinning the other end with a drill and all I hear is a slight tick inside the speedo. The speedo case, the plastic part, is cracked pretty bad.
The chrome cover is not cracked, it the plastic bezel itself it split. I'm not getting a speed reading nor am I getting anything from my odometer. I don't know if there is a way to separate the plastic bezel and repair the inside or if I need a whole new setup.
Is there anyway to repair a speedometer or am I going to have to buy one used? My plastic case on my speedo is cracked and I can hear the ever so slight tick as I spin the cable so I'm assuming the gear inside the speedo is stripped. The cable is fine and the gear at the wheel is good so I know...
Thanks for all your suggestions. When I took it out the other day I was only going to three gears. I was going above 6,000rpm but not for long. From what I have read its more noticeable in the higher gears. I will have to enojy third through fourth this weekend for sure. ;-) I have been riding a...
Right, well it was $400 for a sync and cleaning but since it sat for a while they said there was likely going to be more wrong with it, of course. Im sure they would sync them and then spray some cleaner in them and call it good. I'm a hands on guy so I would like to learn how to and then I can...
I had no plans on taking to a "stealer". I did call just for a chuckle and they only wanted $400 to clean and sync carbs. Sounds like a good deal....... A friend of mine is a Yamaha mechanic and hes going to show me how to do all of this.
Ok. Thanks. I have always used Rotella T but I know some bikes run better on certain weights and oils. The v Boost is the real puzzler. I do hear it cycle but maybe I was expecting more boost than what there was.
I am going to give my new (used) 05 Max the first oil change since my ownership. The previous owner used 20-50 Royal Purple. Would you keep that same weight. Seems a little heavy to me.
Also I took it out for a first ride this weekend and I'm not feeling the V Boost these bikes are known for...
Ok, Where it threads into the front wheel? Is that where the gear is? I just had the front tires mounted so I'm betting it has something to do with that
