Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

I will say one thing, I'm not looking forward to wearing a half-open/non-Snell peanut on my head. Maybe I can get away with a Simpson Bandit without getting laughed at:( And regarding black T-Shirts. I always wear leather jackets because I don't have enough tatoos for T-Shirts...haha:)

Thanks guys. Trust me, I'll always love the VMax, have since it came out. Was very sad to realize how uncomfortable I was with it. As far as 'lifestyle' etc., I ran into that issue with the Ducati, too...it seems people expect you to be a bit different, and I never really fit into that crowd...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

I didn't mean anything bad:( The combination of seat height and width is the reason I walked away, not the bike itself. It felt very heavy. I now (or will at the end of the deal) have a bike that couldn't stand against a VMax, but I had to think about riding it every day. I'm also not getting...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

Hey guys, an update. I think I just bought a Harley lol. I sat on a VMax a bit ago, and it was low but big in the crotch I lost a lot of height there. Then I sat on a 48, and it even felt lighter than my Ducati, but I guess that's the seat height. I practically dragged my knees at a...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

Thanks guys. Yeah, I learned a few things from the Ducati, namely, don't just go and buy everything you can think of to make it 'trick'. Sure it was a great bike, but 2 years into buying parts, I would have done it completely differently, and probably for less money, not buying so much 'bling'...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

Hey man:) I'm in the pool. Still saving and scoping the market, but I am definitely doing the VMax. Can some of you guys answer a few questions for me, please? Some are practical, some are if I decide to go nuts: 1) Shaft vs. Chain. I plan on riding the bike a lot, often 5-600Km in a day, for...

What's the Supershow? Bar's International World of Motorcycles at the International center? My old boss used to and still does show there, I think, John Connery. We painted a lot of VMaxes in the 80s, he's still at it and still doing amazing paintjobs...DOCC asked me to come last year cuz I had...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

Hey guys, so sorry for the delay. OK I prob'ly missed a bit, but here we go: I actually went to stage 4 lol, added TTX and FGRTs and a few bits (alum sub etc.). I never got any pics though. I really screwed up with the paint lol. Yuckphooey! I think the weight vs. center of gravity will be...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

Thanks, I'm a torque guy, not HP so I won't be overrevving myself, and hopefully whoever I buy the bike from wouldn't have either. I usually only miss shifts downshifting, for some weird reason. Never going up. I'm used to using a tender religiously so hopefully the battery won't be an issue...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

Awesome, thanks guys. I'll check 2nd gear on all the bikes I check out. I feel confident to buy a good-looking/well-kept bike with 350000km or so now...newest possibly of course:) I'm stoked now. It's approaching winter here in Canada so I'm going to take my time and make the most, looking at...

Buying a used 1st gen V-Max - skinny short guy lol

Hi guys, first post. I've been into the V-Max since around 1986-1987, always wanted one. Having recently sold my 1098s, I find myself bikeless and am thinking about the bikes I'd love to replace the Ducati with. I went from Toronto to Portmouth, Maine, and back, and it hurt. V-Max would be...
