    1st Gen V-Max 1993 Vmax

I highly recommend the Shinko tour master 230 tires. They are cheap and very grippy. Downside is that they don’t last long, but in my opinion the grip is worth it. Glad you’re mostly ok!

Video 25.15 sec. crank treatment with steel balls?

I watched this the other day and it's darn interesting to see the work they are getting done. I'm also amazed that no one was injured, belt drives with no guards sticking out into a walkway. There are a couple channels that feature these repair and build videos from where I'm assuming is...

New tire technology... best front tire Gen 1

I have the Shinkos on mine and I think they have great grip and I do some spirited riding when I can.

    Dropping Motorcycles

Ahh it's never fun, but eventually you'll feel better. I left my YZ250 supermoto (with new FMF Chrome pipe) idling once on a triangle stand while getting the gate and of course it fell over on the pipe. Luckily just a scrape on it but was a sickening feeling ha.

What's the date on the tires?

idk wtf is wrong with my bike

when were the carbs last cleaned? I’ve learned that these definitely require a good cleaning more frequently than you would think and it can account for a lot of issues. I kind of had a similar issue recently and I cleaned the carbs and did one of those top end valve cleaning chemical solutions...

Stuck Mixture Screw ... but not like you're thinking

There has to be something blocking it from coming out, build up of corrosion or something? I just pulled mine out and there was some corrosion in one of them that made it harder to get out. Perhaps screw it in all the way and then feel with a pick or toothpick for any irregular area. May be able...

No Fuel to Carb #1, Rear Left

Today I pulled that exhaust clamp, cleaned it well and tightened it good on there. I figured I didn't have much to lose so I bought some CRC Valve Cleaner and Marvel Mystery Oil. After work I siphoned some oil out of the case and added 500ml of the Marvel oil into the crankcase. I used the valve...

No Fuel to Carb #1, Rear Left

Hmm I have not run it for long, but it doesn't seem like this would clear up. I'd be worried to run it much longer or ride it. I took a short video where you can see the smoke.

No Fuel to Carb #1, Rear Left

Alright so there is certainly a problem. It probably has been on 3 cylinders since I got it and I was just too stupid to notice until now. The cylinder is firing now and the bike actually sounds good, but oil is burning. After 30 - 60 seconds of running the right exhaust gets a light smoke and...

No Fuel to Carb #1, Rear Left

The plot thickens. I hooked up a fuel source as described and the carb functioned like normal. I reassembled the rack and tested again and yes, working fine. So I got the carbs back on and everything back in place. Took a few tries and it started. I felt near each exhaust real quick and they...

No Fuel to Carb #1, Rear Left

Well I pulled the carbs and I can't find anything wrong except the bowl was dry. Thought for sure the needle valve or float would be stuck but they seem to operate freely and the passage ways that I can get at have no deposits, jets are clean. Float level seems good. Nothings seems to have been...

No Fuel to Carb #1, Rear Left

Hey Guys, I have an 07 with 20k miles on it. Had a bad bearing in the final drive (lots of noise in 3-5 gear) when I got it, but Sean had a good one and that fixed the issue (thank Sean) and I've done 600 miles since. I rode the bike a few days ago for a few miles to a friends and it seemed...

Gen 1 VMAX in the twisties

Not that we really have any real twisty roads here in MI, but the stock gen 1 handles fine for what it is. If you treat it like a sport bike it will not comply.
