Thanks for the ideas. I have had no problem finding the earlier model (99-03 YZF R6 ) calipers on Ebay. They have the two blue dots. I take it, these are the ones everyone is referring to. The bolt holes look about right.

Thanks for the advise. I think I will go with the R1 calipers, good pads, then judge the improvement and go from there.

I have a '96 Vmax. I already have the stainless hoses, new HH pads and the braking is still subpar. I am about to rebuild the front end and would like to upgrade while I'm at it. I have read some posts referencing caliper upgrades. I understand that parts can be used from early R1's or GSXR or...
