    front crossovr brace 1996 up

Hi, I had to put in a 96 motor in my 89 max. The front crossover brace/ horn mount I have will not fit the flat style oil filters. Does someone have this brace they will part with? I will also have early style brace for spin on filter available. Thanks Tom

    1989 air box cover, tank

Hi: I need an 89 or so air box cover with readable emissions decal. Mine is fine, just no decals. I dont care, crushed, or what, I need the epa sticker. If someone has a good one, fine, I will pay what it takes, but the one I have is in good shape. I think any year from about 85 to mid 90's...

    Flywheel/ rotor 96 vmax

I have one, I bought a motor, but had to use early style flywheel. This one looks to be in good shape, starter drive and so forth look to be in good shape, but I think I lost some springs. Tom

    1989 vmax epa sticker location

Ah, yes, that is the beast. Mine does not have one. Perhaps now I can find an 86 tin with that sticker intact. Greatly appreciated. tom

    1989 vmax epa sticker location

That one is fine, gives vin and so forth. 4th Letter is E which means it is a 49 state model. That is not the one they want, it is some sort of smog sticker somewhere else. I had the motor out, and painted the frame, so no stickers anywhere, or I would have see it. My guess it was just...

    1989 vmax epa sticker location

With great excitement I took it apart. Nothing anywhere in airbox. I called Yamaha, and they said it was on left hand side of tank or on frame, no nothing there either. I asked them for new decal, they said they could send me a letter that gave the same information, and so perhaps that...

    1989 vmax epa sticker location

Hi guys: I just restored an 89 vmax, and took it to Ca DMV to get registered. I had to have the numbers verified, they were good. But there is supposed to be a sticker on it that shows something about whether it is a 49 or 50 state bike, and neither I nor the verifier could find one...

    upgrading 1989 with 1997 motor

Here is the setup that worked on the flywheel. Two new harmonic dampner pullers, re-machined screw with end that fit the acorn properly, big hammer, a little heat, and presto. tom

    upgrading 1989 with 1997 motor

Hi guys. Well I dug around and found a utube vid of morley taking off one. About 20 seconds. First, he had a massive puller, mine looked like toys. Long story short, I welded two together, put some good pressure on it with a long breaker bar. I also got a good big hammer, and gave it a serious...

    upgrading 1989 with 1997 motor

Hi guys: Well I have been fighting with this for few days. Sean, yes, the crossover would not go on with the new filter. I have tried all day to get the flywheel off of the early motor, just no luck. Destroyed two new harmonic dampner pullers. If I have to, I guess I could get one from yamaha...

    upgrading 1989 with 1997 motor

Hi guys, first post here. Here is the deal, I got a 89 that turned out to have motor siezed, and sat for long time. I cleaned carbs, got it running, and it had horrible noise in it, sort of like major piston slap. When I rode it, it was just too much noise louder on acceleration, same on...
