    2800cc 7 cylinders

Hmmm.... No heat shields on those seven stacked pipes. So you know a source for asbestos chaps?

    Frame Braces

I kind of liked the look of the cross braced one until I saw that part where you have to ride your V-Max to Germany so they can measure the frame. V-Max don't float on water.

one question for anyone with a gen2

Test rode one this week. I'd agree, felt like a powerful V-4, in the very best way. The new bike rides completely different, though, in terms of ergonomics. My 1st gen V-Max feels like a HD Dynaglide with a lot more power. Handles better than the Harley as well. The 2nd Gen V-Max felt to me like...

    Fork seal assembly

Not much at all. I used a Chinese 1 ton Walmart jack that leaks almost as much as the fork. I used my garage door frame as a brace (it's a 70 year-old wood frame) and it creaked once or twice before the seal came out. The main reason to do it this way is I didn't have an impact wrench handy. I...

    Fork seal assembly

Just for reference, this unusual process works. Did one today. Good if you need to swap out the seal on your lunch break. :biglaugh: Two things about the V-Max: Make sure you place the socket you used to remove the top cap over the valve stem (so you're not pushing on the valve stem. And the...

metz 170 - WHO had to do a washer swap?

I doubt it's a problem in this case since Metzeler designs the tire specifically for the V-Max. No other bike uses this tire, that I know of. In my case, no washer swap was needed. The profile of the tire appears to be shaped to fit into the V-Max swingarm. My tire fits exactly with about 1/16...

    New $900 Honda

It's a shame a motorcycle like that isn't available in the states. I'd like one bike in my fleet that gets well over 125 mpg. Just in case we wake up some morning, Israel has bombed Iran, the Straits of Hormuz is closed, and gasoline is $10.99 a gallon (because the $%&*% oil companies can)...

    Sportster Skillz

It's not. The list of modification is fairly long, My favorite is that they removed the rear brake petal. I guess it wasn't needed for the stunt and it would be one less part for the EMTs to remove from the rider's leg if things went badly.

vmax still has a cult following

Geeezz... You guys are more touchy than the Skirtster --er-- Sportster folks. I consider my V-Max a comfortable "Sportster" with "more than adequate" power. I traded a hot rodded Sportster to buy it and I haven't looked back. Calling it a MUSCLE BIKE is acceptable. I guess because I also own a...

    Two more American companies gone...

Not in China. Life is cheap. Chairman Mao's Cultural Revolution accidently starved 80 million peasants. And as far as wrongful death: tort lawyers are treated to a bullet in the back of the head.

vmax still has a cult following

I used to ride hopped up Sportsters. Almost wished I still had one but the last one so destroyed my back I was under 4 years of medication. I bought a V-Max because it was a more substancial Sportster-like bike with more than adequate power. As for HD owners being obsessed with the V-Max...

    Obama sending more troops...

It gets better. Remember the tax withholding "stimulus" you got in July that added 20 bucks or so to each paycheck. You'll be writing a check in April to pay most of it back.

    dial for rear suspension...

They are different because people sometimes fool with the big dials when the bike is parked. Keep an eye on them so they stay the same.

    Limited time major discount offer!!

I've been reading up on the Ricor shocks on one of the Kawasaki KLR boards. The people who have bought there are putting up good reviews. But when I looked at the Ricor website, I saw the V-Max is also on the list and I need to fix my V-Max first. (Sorry to say my KLR, running knobby tires on...

    Vmax is it for you?

Hopefully the new V-Max won't be a repeat of Honda's Valkyrie Rune. They made 1,500 copies, sold some of them at an absurd price, and then shut down the assembly line. Not too much aftermarket for that model. I'm sure by now the limited run of the new V-Max is sold out (unless $30,000...
