Self-Update: the oven method worked for me! How to officially remove a waterpump mechanical seal: Tools: chisel (small), hammer (big), convection oven (hot). I warmed up the waterpump cast steel with the mechanical seal housing still in it for about 10 minutes at 200 Celcius. Apply good whack...

@Raging Man - so how did you finally get the water seal/mechanical seal housing out? Mine is destroyed, too, but has yet to come out. I was thinking of baking it. I got no more plays left. Maybe through heat expansion something will give. Or the sealant that's keeping it attached might melt...
