    New Headlight - LED

To take it all apart will definitely be a pain to change the LED headlight, but as Josh mentioned, these LEDs last for ever (tipically). Worst case scenario, that's why I left a spare OEM assembly and that will be a quick swap.

    New Headlight - LED

Took me a while to get this job started, but at last it's done! Some of you might think it was unnecesary and I personally think there were easier ways to do it, but I was looking to install the LED headlight in the original mounts, so this is what I've done: I wannted the option to quickly...

How hard is it to change the Thermostat?

I recently had a coolant leak in the thermostat housing, and found out that the easier way to get to it was to remove the headers and the hose that goes from the thermostat housing to the radiator (lower). Make sure to flush the coolant first of all. After that, you have plenty of room to remove...

That is a great picture of what I was kind of imagining... Thanks!

    New Headlight - LED

I see what you mean... Nice suggestion.... I believe that it will also need a hole big enough to fit the rubber ring to fit it in to the upper holder... Nice tip, I rather experiment with a generic part. I'll share the result when parts arrive Thanks!

1st Gen V-Max Greetings from Costa Rica! My 1997 VMax, brought back to life

Yeah! Figured it is a known kit. I have returned back to stock all I've been able to find and compare against the tech manual. The pictures you show is exactly what was installed. I haven't tossed away all I've removed, in case something goes wrong. The bike runs very well today, fortunately...

1st Gen V-Max Greetings from Costa Rica! My 1997 VMax, brought back to life

That would be really handy! Mine is completely broken in the middle... I believe the previous owner had it adapted with some kind of back rest...

    New Headlight - LED

I am looking for doing the exact same... I bought a 5.75in led headlight, and I am trying to figure out a way to fit it in the original bezel. I am pretty sure all I need is the ring that has the supports of the glass lamp, but there is no way to do so without ruining the OEM lamp. Most likely...

1st Gen V-Max Greetings from Costa Rica! My 1997 VMax, brought back to life

Hello! This is my 1997 Yamaha VMax. I have aquired this beautiful bike at the beginning of this year. Was abandoned and just sitting for two years. Wasn't running at all. It is an inheritance, so I've been giving it good care. Stuff done for the first start: - Installed new starter clutch...

    Carburator Rebuild Kit Recommendations

Yes, as far as I understand the bike is a Californian model, hence the main jet is 152.5 (which I have installed already) and the needle looks like it hasn't been modified... Initially had and afermarket neddle installed. That at least was the good thing about the last owner, he kept the OEM...

    Carburator Rebuild Kit Recommendations

Very thorough and detailed information Thank you very much! Indeed, as mentioned in the thread openinig, I left the bike running good enough, iddles steadily, pulls nice, vboost is very noticeble when kicks in.... But I am pretty sure still there is an improvement gap... Most importantly I...

    Carburator Rebuild Kit Recommendations

Hello Folks! Very recenlty I inherited a Vmax 97. Always loved this bike but it is very uncommon where I live (Costa Rica) so I was never able to get one for me. So I was very excited when my brother passed the bike to me. Since my brother got the bike some years ago I helped him with very...
