I will run tests at off, idle & 2500 rpm with my voltmeter when I get back home to see how the charging system is acting. I was just happy that the high rpm problem had disappeared. ...Lol. Thanks for the tip.

Problem resolved. New battery put on bike and pulls through high RPM just fine now. Thank you all for your help and suggestions.

Just did a fuel chop. Plug base rings are black. Rich condition looks like. I backed the air mixture screws to 1 3/4 turns and ran it. Helped a little. She wants to ride for the rest of the day since it's so nice out. I'm going to leave it alone so she can get her Max fix. Lol. I will get back...

No....but, after searching this forum, I saw a post on that. i may break the carbs down again and do that adjustment tonight.

The bike has been a work in progress since we bought it. It had sat up for a very long time before we aquired it from the previous owner. I have been steadily getting it better & better from day one that we bought it. So, I really can't compare it to what it has always run like.

Vent lines are fine.

I will check the vent lines right now....

Brand new fuel filter on it. Fuel pump seems to be working ok but, I have not put a pressure gauge on it to find specific pressure. I set the air screws @ 2 1/2 turns out per factory setting. I have drilled the stock exhaust so that may have it in a lean condition.

Would a valve adjustment be needed @ 7500 original miles?

Hey everyone, This is Mrs_Max's husband aka her mechanic. The biggest question I have is about high rpm loss of power. It pulls very hard up to about 8800 rpm then it has a distinct loss of power. I can audibly hear the left side exhaust change pitch when this happens. 8800~9500 rpm just...

I'm so confused now ... I don't know what to do. I have ZERO scratches, chips, etc in the original paint job so I'm not in a hurry. I just need to get these oxidized scoops handled pretty quickly.

i thought about powder coating them....i also thought about chrome. how much would it be to chrome them?? be sweet ... i'm a girl. haha.
