First time for me elusive short circuit.

Thank you. I returned to this site to shorten my overly long post, nahh. By showing my process I may reveal myself as a half smart guy or a dummy, but you are right. I wanted to show not to give up. I always know not to pull on wires to not create an "open" circuit. But this 8 hour test of my...

First time for me elusive short circuit.

I have a Gen-1 project that had an "always runs" condition. I only recently began its repairs. Yes, It ran fine with no ignition key in and wouldn't turn off. A quick look at the wiring diagram shows only three wires from the ign. switch; a blue (switched lighting) a red (always on 12v) going to...

PCW 1500 with venture royale final drive vs stock final drive.

The GAb goes that final drives haven't historically broken much with high HP. The driveshaft reputedly does first. This bike has HD shaft. According to those that have went further in the chain of weak links, the engine case at the gearbox is the failure after the driveshaft mod, not usually the...

PCW 1500 with venture royale final drive vs stock final drive.

I calculate 10% added to my speed in fourth (using the taller final) since I now do 118-119 mph works out to 131 mph without shifting into fifth. I highly doubt any faster speed unless I do power adders. Thanks for your input.

PCW 1500 with venture royale final drive vs stock final drive.

Thx all for the speedy reply's. Yes I fully understand what ratios do whether from gearing or tire circumference. when racing in the quarter mile I always over rev a little in 4th gear at the traps to avoid shifting into 5th and losing that small amount of time. The "brag" or rumor I have...

PCW 1500 with venture royale final drive vs stock final drive.

I recently acquired a PCW 1500 and anticipate even more first gear skittish control under heavy acceleration. The longer ratio of the venture Royale final drive swap I'm considering will partially "tame' the first gear part and lower my top gear RPM's in fifth making for a quieter highway...

    COPS & new style brackets

Are you talking the "time" it takes a coil pulse to get to the plug is quicker than a coil pulse going a few inches in a stock plug wire? That's no difference in my philosophy. Even saying it travels as slow as the speed of light is debatable in theory.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Bike was popping and backfiring and I could feel one cylinder thump. Changed to a freshly rebuilt carb set I made up and Synched carbs on my gen 1, Then no popping . Found compression only 50psi (warm) on RF cylinder. Was hoping for tight valve. Nope, went up to 100 psi with oil squirt. Others...

That's great news, no differences of much note. Thanks for your help!

    2nd gen differences

Searching the forum I did find a link to what I think am looking for but this link is inoperable at this time. I'm interested in finding out the differences in years of the 2nd gen so I may become a more knowledgeable buyer of one. I own three gen 1's now.

    v-max engined car

One mans solution to the reverse rotation. "I ended up just flipping my toyota axle and added a little electric pump to flood the pinion bearing". (with oil). It would be like running a car in reverse, whinny sounding. Front diffs are a candidate also I( just now found out) but may be too heavy.

    v-max engined car

I know this link has been posted before. I just am curious about this builders transmission solution. Builder of this cool vehicle says that the engine turns different direction than a car so he spent $7,000 on a transmission build to make it work with a car rear diff. Many dwarf cars used he...

    Spanner wrench

I could get one probably at a specialty tool store but wouldn't because the dull chisel or screwdriver does just fine without marring the notched nut. You don't want to make them very tight in the 2nd place.

    Wideband data logger?

ok, I will look for one and get around to installing it. thanks.

    Wideband data logger?

That could work for me. I have the 4 into 1. Do you have a sensor to put up the exhaust pipe or do I need to install a fitting in the collector to use yours?

    Wideband data logger?

I'd like to fine tune some carb sets I have. Since the 2nd Gen is in my future I hesitate to spend $500 for the Innovate LM-2 kit at this time. I'm wondering if anyone here is in the Chicagoland area that has one and would log some data on my bike occasionally? Or perhaps you have moved on and...

    Factory Pro needle jets

Greetings all, I was reading the Factory pro site and viewing the pictures of worn needle jets and their pics show their jet as oblong and stick as round. I assume this is a mistake. But a question remains in my mind about whether or not I need new jets. I looked at a dozen needle jets in my...
